Now what ? No fire and 200$ later...

I hope everyone here is doing well, because I'm not. We changed the timing chain, because we tought it was my problem. It was not, but we changed it anyway. Now we spent the night re-mounting everything, I even put a new ignition box (the fender mounted thing)

There is no fire. Now what is next ? Is there a way to test the coil without installing a new one ?

I'm very disapointed tonight, after all this work nothing is working. Help please

Maybe. With electrical stuff, you have to divide and conquer, after you've tested all the cheap/fast possibilities you can think of.

The coil is a transformer, with the primary winding between the two small terminals. Disconnected from the car, you should have continuity between them, or a very low ohms reading. The secondary is from the center post (coil wire) to the case. You should have infinite resistance (no continuity) between the primary and the secondary. Any of these not true -> bad coil. If you have another car, if it has a similar cylindrical (oil can) coil, you can swap it in to test. I would want to carry a spare coil anyway, so changing the coil isn't a terrible burden.

I'll go outside and read some signals on my truck and report back.

 

Well, won't be as quick as I thought - can't find my meter. I'll keep looking though.

 

I am just throwing this out there because I had it happen to a friend of mine.Did you check all your fuses a friend of mine called me up and said the jeep stop running no fire ect. ect. we beat our heads against the wall for two days changed a few parts before we stumbled upon a blown fuse that we thought was caused by something else we did and low and behold walah.I know you already have probally done this but just want to be sure.

 

As a matter of fact, no I did not...

But I will, for sure. I'm getting better and better in mechanical problem, but for electricity, this is not my strenght (sp)...

I'm sure no electrician, but I would start by checking to see if there was power to the coil. If there is, and you don't have power after the coil, I would say there's your problem. If there isn't power to the coil I would definitely check fuses and wiring connections which is so much fun on a little JeepR)R)

You mentioned that fuel is getting to the filter, but are you sure it's getting through the carb? Have you tried spraying some starter fluid down the carb and then trying to start it? If it fires, you probably have a blockage in the carb.
