I have heard much talk about using lithium grease in the ball joints. I replaced seals and ready to add lube. My concern is that by using a grease gun and just pumping in that it will just stick there in a ball by the fill plug? It seems to me thats were 90W would work better but I really dont want the leaks that go with it either????

the rotation of the axle would break up the grease wad. just stick the gun as far as it will go.

My knuckles don't leak (I know must be a fluke or something), as I did some prep work when I rebuilt the front axle.

    1) polish the knuckle surface on the axle
    2) use a quality RUBBER (NO FELT) seal.
    3) make sure the gap is at the top when assembling the knuckle.
    4) use permatex (no sillycone) on ALL THE BOLTS (top, sides, bottom).
    5) use 90w140 regular gear oil (thicker than 85w90)

I prefer oil over grease as it easier to clean up and grease holds dirt/metal shavings.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. I know it may seem like a dumb question but I tend to overthink theese things sometimes as I have done it both ways but when I remove the fill plug on one I have I see a big ball of grease and wander sometimes.

I've got my knuckles packed with lithium grease and it was just blasted in there with a grease gun. Then again, the jeep is in Phoenix where it gets hot enough that the grease can get alot more liquid than I've seen other places.
