    Hi

    I want a tie-rod with tie-rod end for a trail spare. A guy has one from a 68 CJ-5. Will that fit my 77 CJ-5 dana 30 ?

    Thanks

    Bob

Sort answer-no. Now if he has swapped in a D30 then yes. Otherwise, two different axle widths.:v6:

Should be a 2-piece tie rod used with Ross steering. Not at all like your 1-piece tie rod.

The tie rod end might fit - check, say, the legacy catalog at www.thejeep.com to see if they are the same PN.

I don't think you need to carry a tie rod - I've bent the short rod, but was able to straighten it. If you bend the long rod, you should be able to straighten that one too.

If you want TREs for spares, maybe you could change your old, worn ones for new, and keep the old ones. Somebody here will probably give you a used tie rod end for shipping.
