The floorpan in the back of my jeep is pretty rusted out and I am going to replace it with diamond tread steel plate. Should I use 1/8" thick steel or 16 gauge steel? I am going to cut out the old rusted metal and repair the cross suports that are rusted. Then with the left over metal I am going to plate the outside of the body along the sides of the jeep. I was thinking of using about a 6" wide piece going from front wheel well to back wheel well.

16 gauge is pretty heavy duty.
    1/8" is just too heavy.

One big advantage of an early CJ is light weight.

Thanks, I will go with the 16g. They only want $45 for a sheet of 16g verses 90 for 1/8". I just wasn't sure if the 16g would be strong enough.

    Thanks

    Matt
