Anybody have any idea how much it would cost to sandblast and paint / POR15 a late 70's CJ5 frame? I've got a line on a frame that's a little more than I want to spend, but it's painted and rust free so I want to determine if it's worth it to buy a finished product or do it myself.

    Thanks!

To do it yourself wouldn't be expensive, but damn time consuming. Plus, if you don't have the sandblasting set up you would need to pay someone for that part anyway.

It would be worth buying a finished product if your time is worth anything. It would take a good bit of time to tear everything off your frame, sandblast, coat it, and then reinstall everything.

How much is your time worth???

Don't need to sandblast before using POR15, the whole point of using it is that it goes on over rust and converts it to a non-oxidizing protective layer. Just wire-wheel the loose scale and slather it on.

Eastwood Rust Encapsulator is good too, and requires no top coat. Remove loose material and paint over the rust.

I used a product called Rust Bullet on my front bumper. (No not the one in my avatar!)
So far its holding up nicely.

    Wire wheel prep (no sandblasting)
