470 Holley Truck Avenger

Has anyone out there tried running one of the 470 truck avenger carbs on a Buick V6? In the search for a better "off road" carb Holleytech support convinced me to buy one of these. After one month, two carbs, three mechanics, and one distributor and lots of $$, Holley tells me that it will not work on this engine. Does anyone have any experience with these on this engine? It runs perfect at idle but begins poping and cutting out at about 2000 rpm. I can drive through it but it is very difficult. I am convinced that it is an advance problem, but Holley says that's not it. They tell me that there is a series of check valves inside and that my engine is just not large enough to open them at the right time, letting the right amount of gas through. I have tried different jets and timing but nothing makes a difference. I wish Holley would have mentioned this before spending $450 on this. However, I am still convinced that there is something else causing this. I realize that it is a little "over-carbed" for this engine but I still think that it should be better than it is. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

ran it on my 70 and i loved it..... altough alot of guys on here have convinced me to give the 2g a try on the 71 now
