I'll bet a company that specializes in boat canvas could make tops as well. Weatherproofing is their specialty. Might be a niche market that could increase their sales.

I live in Amish country and it has crossed my mind to see if the local buggy guy could stitch a top using my old ragged out one as a template. It's amazing how inexpensively they can do some things.

X2! I just had to convince someone that I had heard earlier last week STC closed their doors for good this weekend at the reunion.

re. The Columbian tops- the one piecers may not be that big a deal but if you want an original style 6 or 7 piece top they're a freakin steal:shock: Thats about half the price Beachwood charges *without* the bows:rofl:

    Canvas half top- Mmmmmmm:)

As for rolling your own we've done it 'cause Bestop woudn't sell us a replacement Tiger Top without the hardware. We diss-assembled the old top (actually it pretty much had diss-assembled itself by that point) & used the pieces as patterns. It came out very nice but you definitely need a heavy duty sewing machine to do this sort of work, we used Rachels 1903 vintage treadle powered Singer :) One thing to watch for is vinyl shrinks over time, we had to make the new pieces a little larger & it's still a fight getting it up in cold weather
