Another Top Option

I'll bet a company that specializes in boat canvas could make tops as well. Weatherproofing is their specialty. Might be a niche market that could increase their sales.

 

X2! I just had to convince someone that I had heard earlier last week STC closed their doors for good this weekend at the reunion.

 

re. The Columbian tops- the one piecers may not be that big a deal but if you want an original style 6 or 7 piece top they're a freakin steal Thats about half the price Beachwood charges *without* the bows

As for rolling your own we've done it 'cause Bestop woudn't sell us a replacement Tiger Top without the hardware. We diss-assembled the old top (actually it pretty much had diss-assembled itself by that point) & used the pieces as patterns. It came out very nice but you definitely need a heavy duty sewing machine to do this sort of work, we used Rachels 1903 vintage treadle powered Singer One thing to watch for is vinyl shrinks over time, we had to make the new pieces a little larger & it's still a fight getting it up in cold weather
