I'm looking for a picture of the toolbox latch used on the really early models, pre-59 anyhow. This is the "pin" type (heard that description used somewheres), not the later "d-ring". A close-up detail showing the parts would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    H.

My 67 has the D ring style(first pic.) The second is an old CJ6 tub I think around 1960. It has the same style D ring. second pic.

O.K. folks, been doing a little research & although my latch is indeed referred to as a "pin" type it does in fact have a D ring pull, the difference is that on the pin type the D ring rotates the "pin" under the lid to catch a latch on the tool box lip.

    Confused yet?

    Good! Lets continue-

Heres a pic of the two different styles of lid-

Note that the bottom one ('55) has the hole for the "pin" style latch. The upper one ('59) has a fixed D ring secured with two rivets.

    The bottom side(s)-

The '55 has a support for the pin & the '59 has a spring clip.

Heres a pic of the lip latch for the pin type-

There was also an older style used on the 2As which I'll throw in since John Marks from WT was kind enough to send me the pics & more importantly, everybody here is starved for pics- Any Pics:twisted:

From the top looks much the same as our '59 example-

    But underneath we have this-

    Clipping to this-

So What I'm looking for is a picture detailing the "pin" type latch on accounta I need to fab up something to fill that hole in my lid & I might as well go with the original setup.

Failing that, Is anybody ordering from Archer Brothers in the near future? They actually have the latches but they don't ship to Canada :(

    Thanks,

    H.
