Ok I bought another Jeep go figure, this one is an 84 six cyl with an after market fuel injection kit. NOw i havent torn the dash apart to try to get at the computer box so I dont know what kind it is nor if that box would tell me or not. The problem im having is after start up the engine surges. Rpms will drop almost to point of stalling then it will pick up go up to about 1200 or so then idle back down. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and is there an adjustment for idle or excactly what kind of sensors are used on these aftermarket units. thanx cw

Is it TBI or mopar MPI?

IF TBI then it probably uses GM sensors. First thing I would do is pull the IAC (Idle Air COntroller) mounted on the side of the Trottle Body and clean it out real good. Sounds like it may be sticking.
If that doesn't work, then determine what System you have and contact the maker if they are still around.

Pics are always helpfull in Identifying the System you have.

its a throttle body looks like a howell system i had time to do a little research today. When I disconnect the o2 sensor it runs fine. Its also flashing a 45 code which I believe is o2 sensor related.
