I have to remove my hardtop so I can paint. Just wondering how much a full aluminum hardtop weighs? I think they were installed as seperate pannels. Can I just lift the whole top off or do I have to take it apart? I think it's a Sears aluminum top. Thanks.

you can lift it off in one piece, but get help... don't try it by yourself. Definitely a two man job.

Probably heavy enough you'll wish it was fiberglass, but light enough you'll be glad it's not steel! My steel Koenig half-cab weighs more than I care to rassle by myself. You'll need help regardless, just to avoid damaging it. It shouldn't be too bad, three of us carried my CJ5 tub about 75 yards to put it in storage, John's trailer wouldn't fit through the gate.

My aluminum hardtop doesn't weigh more then 50-75 lbs... I move it around by myself all the time. The rear panel is out of it, but it weighs all of 5 lbs more tops. The thing about them is they are akward, I have put it on and taken it off alone before though.
