What would be the most effective way to prime the oil pump on my '71 225 v6? I've recently had the heads machined and doing some engine upgrades/repair. Now I cannot get oil pumping through the heads

Drill with a flat head screw driver bit was what Clint and I used Sunday.

Drill with a Buick or Chevy Prime rod - you can barrow one from most FLAPS.

    to actually prime the pump
remove the oil pump cover and pack the area between the gears with vaseline
then do the pre-oiling before running as mentioned above
