Someone locally gave me a set of springs that were off his old CJ5. They were supposedly 2" lift springs or equivelant. Yesterday I went looking for bushings for them and found out (actually decided to really look at them) that the front were correct and the rear are off an early scout.

I have a stock set-up with 10 leaf aftermarket (they look too good to be original) springs and rancho 5000's on each side front and rear. My main reason I wanted to upgrade was to get a "better" ride.

I am assuming that the scout springs would probably be too stiff in the rear and would make little to no difference and probably make it worse. They seem to measure out the same specs as listed here in the tech section, but with bigger main spring eyes.

I am trying to go low budget as my JEEP funds are going somewhere else right now. Also, my shackle and spring bushings are shot.

Question #1: Because the scout springs are made stiffer to compensate for the weight of the scout should I continue with this setup?

Question #2: OR should I just change out all my bushings (shackle and springs) and replace the Rancho's instead with a better shock setup for the JEEP and would that make a noticeable difference?

Just trying to get some feedback from the experts.

I would tend to agree the Scout springs probably have a heavier rating. How many leaves front and rear are the new to you springs? I've only gone from worn out springs to lift springs so the initial reaction to the ride was wow those are stiff. They tend to break in and soften up though, plus I like the more firm/steady ride. Personally I don't think replacing the bushings would help with the ride, unless the shocks are super stiff I doubt that would help either.

Here are a couple of pics. The black are my new to me front springs. The other two are the scout springs. They have the same width and length (as rear) just different main spring eye size.
