Add me to the steering column ranks

Well, I installed a new turn signal switch today from Truck-Lite.
Got it installed and it works great, I'm planning on writing it up, color codes and such, easy for some, might help others.

Next I decided to tackle fixing my horn, which lead me to go ahead and try to remove and replace my steering wheel. Oh yes, I've read the other posts and horror stories, I thought I would add mine to the list. R) I'm inside now (aching) and my steering wheel (whats left of it R) R) ) is still frozen to the column. PB Blaster, wheel puller, and finally my mini sledge were powerless to remove it. I have now managed to booger up (or completely destroy) the threads too badly to use.

So I figure now would be a great time to put in that 70s-80s model GM tilt steering column everybody's talking about.
Thought I would share.

 

I'd be interested in hearing about the new steering column because I have to figure out something for mine along those lines pretty soon.

 

I have located a 90's XJ column at a local yard for $100.
I'm going to have a look at it today.
I'm not sure about the power steering piece of it though.
They have the pump+gear box for $75, but I'm pretty sure thats more trouble than I want to get into right now, especially trying to mount the pump on my 232.

So I'm thinking I'll just take the column, maybe the pedals too.
We'll see.

 

one of my friends has a GM column in an 80 something cj7, I haven't really taken a look at it though
