I'd like to upgrade to an electronic ignition, and am thinking about either going with the Omix brand new distributor or upgrading my existing one with a Pertronix kit.

I called up pertronix and they were about as much help as the folks at Napa, autozone, A&A auto, and pep boys have been for all my other CJ-2A needs
The problem: I don't have the serial number tag for my distributor.

    My jeep: 1947 Willys CJ-2A, L-134.

I believe that one of these three kits 1548, 1144A, or 2541 could work. Any suggestions?

I believe my distributor uses the Autolite AL35 cap and AL85 rotor (if that means anything to anybody). This suggests that maybe this would use the 2541 pertronix kit.

Note that my distributor cap clamps do not have screws holding them to the distributor body. One vendor told me that this variety of distributor (riveted clamps) doesn't work with any of the three pertronix kits. I don't know if this is true. Again, I tried to ask pertronix and again, the only response I got was "serial number please".

I did a little searching before posting. These threads didn't answer my question, but almost did... they might help someone else.

The shop manual for the era shows the distributor for the 2A as Auto Lite
    IGW-4177-1.
The picture in the book matches the ones you have posted.
This number does not match any on the list you provided. The only other distributor that they used was one much smaller in diameter with the condensor on the outside.
I probably have one laying around somewhere. Will look for it if it will help.
Just looked through other books I have- the shop manual for the industrial engine and the shop manual issued in 1957. Both of these list the 4008 number, which is one on your list. They do list the 4177 number for CJ2A.
The 4008 number is listed as being CJ3A in the manual. Willys made changes whenever they felt like it. Don't know whether or not someone changed your distributor, but you do obviously have the 4008.
They do appear similar. Don't see a problem going with your conclusion.

If I was a gamblin' man, I'd put my money on the 2541. Sez right there, "1940-1959".
