I'm not sure what I should do with my headlight buckets. It looks to me like the front part is body color, and the back part is white. Does anyone have original paint that can tell me where to mask?

I always take my buckets out of shell and paint low gloss black.

My '70 buckets, part exposed to the engine compartment, are either galvanized or similar looking plating. I believe they are original. Hope this helps.

Clint, mine are galvanized. A wash in the sink and they were like knew. They can't be seen except from the engine compartment and they add zero to reflection so its kinda your choice. Black buckets next to a black radiator would look nice and contrast well w/ your paint. IMO:v6:

In my complete tear down, I removed the buckets. After wire-brushing down to the metal (Lot of mud and grime, although there was no paint!), I got to a sort-of galvanized pot-metal casting. The clean up incited me to paint the bucket black outside and white inside (the devil made me do it, really). The lamp holders were starting to rust so after wisking the rust away, I used a cold galvanizing spray. We will have to see how long this lasts.

(It could be a long time, if I never get this back on the trails - Ha)
