Dont know !!!!!!!! This one got me stumped...I am going to order a new clutch kit from Walcks in a couple weeks and reinstall the darn thing..

I beat on it with a 1 inch square bar stock and a 2 lb sledge hammer yesterday until I was blue in the face !!! I will know in about a month what the problem was..I also know where and who I bought it from originally , and I wont buy anything from him again ..

You've probably already thought about this but...

Could you, or someone else mistakenly installed the friction disc backwards? I know it's possible and it would cause the symptoms you're describing.
If you're able to see from the inspection cover, check to make sure the "top hap" or raised center section of the friction disc is facing outward, or towards the rear of the jeep.

I know I've had to catch myself a few times wanting to place the friction disc in backwards, because it seems like the raised section of the friction disc fits perfectly in the center of the flywheel.

Check to see if this could be your problem...

PS: don't sell you're jeep. she'd be very sad.
