My last Jeep was a fiberglass 79 CJ5, and obvoiusly didn't have all the details of a steel Jeep. So my question is: What the heck are the two panels for between the windshield, and the hood in this picture of my 64 Willys that I just bought?

The big one on the passenger side is the vestigal battery box cover from the M38A1. I think the other is a PO mod.

if this had been an A1 there would be a box under it and the lid would lift off,on the cj5's they just capped it off ,an the driver side no idea:? if you find out what it is let us know,or why the PO did it ,it may be a good thing and i for one am currious:)

Stupid question, but why should this original post be in the classified section
I was wondering the same thing about my 1963 Cj5 purchased five months ago. an unreliable source told me it was a toolbox. Obviously he was wrong.
