What can I expect for MPG on a stock 304? Gas gauge isn't working so I need to guess on refill.

Well, mostly stock, factory headers, cherry bombs, all emissions removed.

Stock gearing (not sure what though, it's got a 3 speed). Running 30x9.5 mudders.

I would say 10-12 mpg on the highway.

I have a 304 w/ 3spd. For around town and on rural roads you'd better guage at 10-12, but I'd definately recommend the $25 new sending unit investment.

Neither of mine have working gas gauges either. But I was able to compute fuel mileage on my stock 304 74 on the highway. I was able to get 20mpg with it on a 200 mile drive. Around town I would expect 10 or less. Especially for a not so tip top running 304.

    '72 CJ5 304/3speed/7x15 tires (about 28.5") I get 10 around town, 12 at 65mph, 18 +/- at 55mph. It really drops off sharply above 55. It'll run forever at 40mph.

    12 mpg highway.
    Coasting.
    Down the mountain.
    Otherwise, a little less.
