I'm glad to have found this site. I just picked up a 65 Tux Park in pretty good shape, which I would like to restore back to orginial condition. I had some questions which I hoped to get feedback on:

    1. Where is the best place to get replacement sheetmetal parts, we need to replace a couple of areas.

    2. Anyone out there that has knowledge of where I could find the chrome front and rear bumpers.

    3. The notch for the snorkle is missing out of the hood, does anyone know where I could find one.

    4. I'm also looking for the front 60/40 seats, and chrome hubcaps.

Lastly, I have 5:38 geared axles any suggestion how I can get a little more speed. I like to get up to at least 55, is there any way of doing that?

For sheet metal parts, you can try Jeep Panels Plus, or Classic Enterprises (search this form for more info on both). Don't know about the bumpers, maybe someone else here does. The snorkel cutout is a junkyard only part (as far as I know). You would think someone would make a repro as often as they seem to be missing, but I've never seen one. Mine is missing too on my '55  . I always wonder, why do people remove them in the first place? Somehow I doubt they found a military snorkel kit to use  . Same goes for the seats and hubcaps. Your best bet is probably placing a "wanted" ad in the classifieds here, or shopping epaY.
For more speed get an overdrive. Search here for Warn Overdrive, and you'll have a full afternoon of reading to do :) .

2 options; 1) aftermarket stainless steel, or 2) pick up a hemmings catalog and look under rechromers.

A couple of options; add an overdrive (www.hermtheoverdriveguy.com), regear your axles to 4.27, learn to live with 53mph as a cruiseing speed.

I believe the front bumper is the same as used on the Jeepster Commando; rear may be the same too, though it will likely have different brackets. The chrome bumpers were optional for the AMC years on CJs, so there are a few sources other than other Tuxes. Check the big Jeep wrecking yards, start searching.

Rechroming is a possibility, but pretty expensive these days due to chemicals used and environmental laws.

With an F4, you are either gearing limited (5.38s) or power limited. The overdrive is a good option, but don't expect miracles - wind resistance is a mighty barrier, and you need more power as well as more revs to go a whole lot faster.

    Welcome from Boston!
