oil pressure line

    hi guys (and gals)
    its been awhile since i've visited!
    i know, nobody missed me:)
    i would like to put in a
    real oil pressure line.
    where is the best place to
    tap into the engine,
    and where do i buy the line
    and the new gauge?

    If it's on the 258, the oil pressure fitting is on the passengers side of the engine, about half way back from the distributor to the rear of the engine block. It's also half way between the head and oilpan gaskets.
    I would think you could get the guage at any auto parts store. Just make sure you get a mechanical instead of electric guage. :beer:

    and i reccomend using the copper line instead of the plastic line, you might have to buy it seperatley. Actually, some gauges can even use brake lines I believe. I know one of mine has does. OH, and I always grab gauges for free from the junkyard, any of them are good. I test them by cranking my air compressor to whatever PSI, then blast the gauge. they should match.

    gauge (analog) red at idle
    when engine is hot?

    I guess 40,50 or 60 PSI? Around there will do :) Though sometimes mine will drop down to 20 or so at idle when the oil's real hot and thin. I don't know, I havn't had problems yet. I also havn't stopped using fram oil filters yet though. Apparently they can drop the oil 10 psi or so.
