cherokee chief axle swap

    ok i know I'l lbe needing to outboard the spring mounts on the frame for them to work, however i have a gm 1 ton frame sitting in the garage as scrap. does anybody think i can use the front spring mounts off the 1 ton frame and weld them onto the flattie frame?

    Should be able to...just put some sort of reinforcement above them going to the frame... something like this... /[ over the spring hanger.

    With the widetrack axles they will be really wide compared to narrow track waggie axles. Just for the you to know :) Oh and the rear axle if it is offset for the quadratrac, you will possibly need to out board the rear springs also. When i just installed my offset waggie rear end i had to grind a but on the pumkin and get a larger U-bolt to go around the pumkin side because the offset pushes it right to the frame edge.

    Earlier waggy axles = 57.5
    later waggy axles = 59
    cherokee/j-truck ewidetrack = 65.5

    yuppers, this by no means is going to be close to a stock flattie. only thing im going to retain is the factory seats which i found a nice pair all redone, the body/frame(duh)and the t-case.
