What size bearing puller do I need to remove the carrier and pinion bearings? I ordered a set from harbor freight but they don't seem to fit.

    Any ideas?

    thanks,

i used the large black bearing puller harbor frieght sells. it is a very big splitter type. i think it was about 20 bucks. i hope you have a pres, because it is a PIA to tray and do it without one. also you will have to get creative with your press to get the bearings on and off, it is not mentioned much but you will probably need some scrap metal to put under the bearing splitter to raise it above so the press can push the carrier through the bearing to remove it.

I also used a bearing splitter and press. You'll hate life if you don't do it this way. Find a local service station that has one they'll let you use. My .02

I've never used a press. But there is no good alternative to a good puller/splitter to remove the bearings. But you can't just buy the splitter, you need the puller part also. Just buy one big enough to handle your largest bearing. However, to reinstall, i just set it on a piece of wood, find the right size pipe and hammer it on.
