Well yesterday was a BIG day for the flattie. Got the MSD ign. box installed, gas tank in and ran a new fuel line and she fired up right way, After all the headaches this engine has caused it was nice for it finally cooperate a little :D. Still need to get the rad. installed, and the exhaust ran so I can let it run for a little while to make sure everything is fine with it.

So then I started on the axles, got the front regeared to 5.38 and the lockrite installed, drilled/tapped the knuckles for the high steer arms, made the drag link (1.5x.250wall DOM) Then I got the rear axle regeared and the spool installed. After that I started building the Rear traction bar.

Jason, what tie rod ends are you using? THe one tons? If so did you ream out the pitman arm, and if yes, do you have the reamer still.. I need to ream mine out :) Looking good. I hope you arent going to leave that ugly bead of weld on that firewall ;)

Im using 5/8" heim joints for the steering, so the holes are drilled strait though. But we do have a reamer here, just need to figure out a way to meet up and we can drill them out. Yup the weld on the firewall needs to be knocked down and smoothed up. Got the exhaust ran today and mufflers on, ended up jsut using the cheappie Thrush mufflers but man they sound good with the turndowns right behind the rear axle.

Looks great!, I am doing a very similar build with my 46. It looks like you are using an offset 44 rear (pre 80 waggy) are you anticipating any problems with your centered output transfer case? You are using YJ springs in front and XJ springs in the rear, right? What is your wheelbase coming in at? I am debating using YJ springs all around or going to XJs in the rear. About how long is your rear shaft going to be with the XJ springs?

There will most likely be some vibrations in the rear, but since it will see limited road use I should be able to deal with it. Yup stock YJs up front and XJ in the rear. Ended up right at 87ish" . Rear driveshaft is 21" long at ride height.

i've heard of using s-10 rear springs in certin builds in place of the xj rear springs. are they the same lenght? do you think you could use them (s-10) on a sua set up with wrangler springs in the front? did you move the shackle hanger on the outside of the frame for your set up, like christian hazel did on his flattie? thanks

Yeah I had to outboard the springs front and rear...As for using S10 springs I dunno, never had my hands on a set to get any kind of measurements. Supposedly dodge dakota/durango springs are good candidates for the swap also.

Got the rad. in and all the hoses installed. Also wired everything up through the key switch...and it actually worked on the first try  . Started installing the driveshafts and the jacka@@ at the driveshaft shop made them too long. So the ride height measurements I gave him, he made them that length fully collapsed. So hopefully he'll fix it on Mon..ended up using a Dual CV shaft in the rear, pieced out of some that we had laying around, and the front shaft is non CV shaft. Also still have to adjust the rear pinion angle before I weld the perches on

why dual cardagons or however you spell it? angles look like they can be fixed without the need for both of them.

i think they're just gonna cause extra, unnessicery vibs and weight. using for strength?

Shafts only like 21" long and there is about 6" of offset...I remember reading somewhere on this intraweb that a standard CV shaft will have some vibs when the rear end is offset with a centered tcase. And that the only way to get vib free is go to with a dual CV shaft . But I could be wrong...wouldnt be the first nor last time :) and if so guess I'll get it cut off and a standard end put back on

Well got it all together enough to take on a shake down ride this weekend and broke the rear pinion within 45min of pulling it off the trailer. My own fault though, I had to change the rear yoke out with a cv yoke and when I loosened it to put the bolts through it, and test fit the driveshaft, I forgot to tighten the pinion nut up. It was one of those last min, 2am projects....so at least I know what not to do next time. But other than that up until the rear end quit working it did great, and I couldnt have been any happier.
