solex

    hi i'm new here and just got a new solexs for my 1965cj5a is a fuel pressure regular a must to work any advise thx paul

    No a pressure regulator is not neccessary to run a Solex. I've been using a Solex for years and have never had to work on it other than normal tweaking to adjust the carb to it's new home. Here's link to another website with more info; http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3b/Tech/SolexCarb.html

    Dont want to step on your toes willysnut ...BUT I rebuilt an f-head used a solex kept leaking out the carb..first thought rebuild wasnt any good went and got another from advance auto..I did this TWICE...here to find out the cam was a high performance that was boxed wrong that I used and it was pushing out too much gas on the pump side..anyhow I ended up putting a regulator on the thing been working fine ..

    I'd always reccomend a regulator for a Solex. They don't like the fuel pressure to be as high as the stock pumps put out.
