I can break anything built. If the risk of breakage were a reason not to wheel, no wheeling would get done. We should all be wheeling with a group, and in our group, we never leave anyone behind, even if it means long tows or staying out overnight. Without knowing our respondent's trail situation, it is hard to advise whether to try or not try large tires if the risk of breakage would be a serious problem, but for purposes of general discussion, and as the question was posed, you can run 35 inch tires on stock axles and survive if you keep you equipment limits in mind. The rest is up to personal choice.

I got to agree with this. There is no way to build a vehical breakproof. And if you are wheeling like your should, with a group you should not have any problems. Carry spare axle shafts and the problem is aliviated. anyway if you break a front axle you are not done for the day, people will help you get off the trail. Then you would unlock the hubs anyway so on the road a broken shaft is not the worst thing in the world.
