baja half doors

does anyone know of a place that makes baja doors for a 53 cj3a. i can find full tops but not half doors.

 

if you have a welder and a sewing machine i would think it wouldnt take much skill or time to make up some yourself. just somthing to think about

 

seems the site might be dead. as for making them myself, well there for a friend and i don't think he wants to pay for the labor involved in me making them. hard to believe that some one doesn't make them, after all they still make complete tops for the older jeeps.

 

There was a guy a few years ago in western Washington state that was selling an alumunim half door. He did a good job making them but they never caught on and really didn't look good IMHO. I think he advertised on Willys Tech.

 

i think the biggest problem about producing them would be the hinge placement. There different for each brand of top and hard and soft doors they all have their specific style. so if you were to switch from a full door to a half door pretty regularly you would need two sets of hinges or have a lower one be in the same place as your full door hinge. which is highly improbbable. see what im sayin

 

yeah i know what you mean about the hinges. there would have to be a set just for the half doors. im thinking about trying to make a pair out of round bar and having a shop upholster them. ill check the willys tech site. i found a site that showed a place called grimmjeeper1 who made some and emailed him but no response as of yet.
