I am currently trying to put all of the original latches, handles, etc back on my 1970 CJ5. I ordered a stainless hood set the other night and it has most of the parts that I am hunting for, but it doesn't have much for the windshield. I am not sure what kind of stock hardware came on this model. I have been researching it and I can find the latches for prior and later years, but not that year. I really think I would like to have the latches that work a lot like a tool box latch, but I don't know if that is what comes on that year model. Then I also saw the ones with knobs that have to be tightened, but I have heard that over time, they tend to loosen up. What should I get?

Also, I need the latches to hold the winshield down. I ordered the rests, but I am not sure if there is anything in the kit to actually keep the winshield from coming up in your face while going down the road. There are no holes for the latches that I have seen on other Jeeps in this forum. Are you supposed to actually tie these to the hood? :?

if i remember correctly on my 1971 i use to have,it had a piece of webbed belt that fastened to a footman loop to hold the windshield down in place.

Thought I would post this to show the some of the guys what is being talked about if they had not seen them. My opinion on these is that they work very good. My thinking is that the real reason for them is not to keep the windshield from bouncing up and down, but just a safety to keep the windshield from ever coming all the way up at high speed or something. I think the weight of the windshield itself does a pretty good job of keeping it from bouncing when on rough trails. I have had mine for 36 years and never had any problems with it not working. See pics.
