I found another 67 Jeepster Commando to keep Fern my other 67 company.
This one has had a lot of bodywork done and while the PO really messed up the sides (warpage) and sort of tweaked the body, the floors were done real strong and gets me way ahead with the project.

    Electrical Question:
This new one has a motorola alternator and something is messed up. Connected the battery and the amp light comes on right away. Turn the key and it won't fire the starter.
Checked the wiring, swapped ign switches, swapped batteries. The same.
Disconnect the white wires on the alternator. One goes the the AMP light (I guess), the other to the voltage regulator.
Now everything is fine. Got this Dauntless to fire up and Purr after sitting outside for at least a year.
    Alternator?? Voltage Regulator??

Oh, yeah. Also noticed this. This 67 has the front driveshaft right off the D20 like a CJ. Fern has the front shaft stub out to another jount with a bearing and then to the front axle. Why would I have two different setups?

Oh, and here is the picture after I took off the half cab.

More than likely someone couldn't find a good two piece and had one made or found one from something else that was the right length. The two piece were OK but the support bearing really wasn't serviceable once they wore out.
Best choice for the alternator, Delco 10SI. More output, cheap to replace or rebuild.

    correct me if I'm wrong
I always thought the F4 Commando had a one piece front shaft.
and the V6s were 2 piece, regardless of auto/man trans.
still, in this case, PO probably had one made up.
