Need to Re-upholster original low-backs

Hey All...
I'm trying to find replacement seat covers for my '73 CJ5 low-backs. I've seen in other threads that E-B*y is a good source, and I've read Boyink's thread (3 years old) that he used a source from there. However I have yet to find a good supplier of quality seat cover replacements. If I can't find a suitable supplier, I may have to make my own, as long as the wife lets me use her sewing machine (Don't laugh, I used to make all the kids' halloween costumes, I'm a better seamstress than she is!R) )

A local shop quoted me $450 to recover my orignal seats with new foam and vinyl. Probably could have got just the fronts done for $250 - $300, and they would have looked factory. I think I'm going to go that route next time.

 

Thanks Jayhawkclint, but I'm hoping to do a full re-upholster, since my seats look as bad as Boyinks did on his Super-size. If the seats were in a little better condition, I would probably go ahead and use a cover, but I do appreciate the idea!

 

Made my own with heavyweight tent canvas in olive drab. Looks great, very true to the Jeep's roots.

Thanks, Rondog! I'll shoot her an email and see what she can do for me. Well, I can see I wasn't the only one to have trouble finding that Varner guy, sounds like it was a good thing, too, even though it sounds like his quality was good.

 

Try the local upholstry shop. A member in Texas got his done for $300. Best price I could find here was $400. Seems to be a regional thing. Anyway, a reupholster looks a lot better than just covers, Avoid the Best top cover at all costs unless you just happen to like the cheesy look.

 

I had mine done at a local shop as well about 2 years ago.

All three seats $300

 

Mine cost $700 to do in So Cal. Just for the fronts.

 

As the driver, I look cheesy enough, don't need my seats looking cheesy too!
