Spindle Nuts

    The axle I took apart today to rob a front axle shaft out of today had one spindle nut then it had another nut that spun and that had 3 set screws that went into the washer that was behind it. When did they stop using this set-up and switch to the 2 nut type?

    That round nut with the set screws is for the Lockomatic hubs.

    they didn't
    PO has been in there
    sounds like the later type for auto locking hubs
    some folks like that style better

    ahh gotcha. Yup it had lockamatics on the donor. Kinda interesting taking them apart when your used to the 2 nut setup :rofl:

    Oh there not gettin tossed. I'm just borrowing the axle out of my bosses flattie that hes planning on resto. one day. So after the ride this weekend I gotsta put it all back together. I havnt had time to get the Ujoint shafts from back in NC to put them in to replace the bendix's...
