Does anyone have any info about the "Love Tractor, Inc." implement lift?

As far as I can tell Love was based out of eau clair, mich., and was the first company to approach Willys regarding a hydraulic lift. (before the war ended)

The only mention on the web I can find is:
    http://www.gasenginemagazine.com/complete-archive/6008

"During the war, J. B. Love was a consultant for Willys-Overland, in adapting a 3-point hitch for them."

I have an ad from march 4, 1950 listing the lift at $180.00 and stating on the top of the page:
"Announced by Willys-Overland Motors, Inc. as the ORIGINATOR and INVENTOR of the LIFT HITCH for Willys Jeeps" along with a photo of 5 men standing around a cj2A with a 1-bottom plow attached, dated Sept. 1946.

I guess it is just cool to know there was another company besides Stratton, Newgren, and Monroe producing lifts for early jeeps.

Now does anyone own one of these forgotten lifts?

It's not listed in any parts or accessory manual though. The Newgren was used first and was a lift and not a 3 pt hitch. The Monroe and Stratton are three point hitches.

So the Newgren was a 2 point lift arm?

The Newgren was considered a lift as it didn't have the 3rd attaching point for it to be considered a 3 pt hitch

Greetings. My name is Barry Thomas, and along with my son Evan, we spend time (and money) restoring early jeeps. We have a Web site at http://www.farmjeep.com/. I came across this thread while doing some research on a Monroe lift. Our farm jeep adventures begain when we purchased a Newgren lift. It is a full 3pt lift, as you can see from the pictures on our site.

The main advantage of both the Newgren and the Stratton is that the keep the bed open.

I would really like more information on the Love lift. I've never seen - or heard of one - but we would be happy to add it to our list of farm options.

    Thanks,
    Barry

Hi Barry. I haven't seen any action on your site in a while.

I've since found a dealer brochure on the Love Hydraulic Lift-Hitch, which contains installation instructions. It is an under the bed, frame attached system, like the stratton and the newgren. I always wonder why the monroe seemed to be the most popular, a frame mounted system seems stronger, and of course having the bed open is a bonus. Maybe it was easier for the dealers to source.
