6v ECJ generator -- which is F and A?

evanjm Yeah, it's got an F-head.

I'm in the middle of rewiring my '57 CJ5. I can't remember which terminal on the genny is F and which one is A. I have the ground hooked up.

Here's a picture of my generator...

The right side of the picture is the front of the jeep.

    Thanks,

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

if you take a wire brush and clean around the studs, they should be marked, A or F.
    short of that
the fuzzy pic I'm looking at in the FSM indicates/most likely/should be the top stud would be the field terminal.
the lower would be the armature terminal.

Pop the brush cover. The A stud is connected to the brush arm while the F terminal connects to the field windings around the case.
