I have put on a new re-manufacture 2 jet, with new intake gaskets, and now it backfires both directions, going up a hill it will come up through the carb. going down a hill or on a level or constant speed, it will back fire through the pipes, and i mean, LOUD bang! Got timed correct, I think? Have the carb needles are turned out about 3 turns. Friends say that it might be lean? Any help Please!
    Thanks

Poping through intake is usually lean and poping through the exhaust is rich .
I would recheck the timing and check with a vacume gauge that you have the lowest vacumn you can get at your base idle.
I would also make sure you dont have any vacumn leaks just because its new dotn count on it that it may not be leaking.
