Tried to start the Jeepster today to move over to the other garage bay and it would not start. It started with gas poured down carb. Added gas to the tank, still did not start. Cranked it over and no fuel out the pump.

I removed the line coming from the tank, some fuel was in the line from the tank, but it did not continue coming out after I removed it, blew air though to make sure it was not plugged, seems to be OK, gurgled (sp?) in the tank.

I took off both inlet and output hoses and was able to blow air through the mechanical fuel pump, should I be able to do that? Also put a line on the suction side and cranked the engine, did not feel any suction on the line. Would I be able to feel it with my finger over the hose?

Also checked all the lines and replaced one which was dry and cracked. The Jeepster has not been started for a couple months, so I think the pump diaphram dried up and cracked????

If you didn't feel any suction, it's toast.

Buy two, keep one for a trail spare. ;)

Replaced mine over the summer. Hopefully your PO didn't mess up the threads where yours bolts on. I got in on and thought it was tight then took off with a buddy to get a celebratory ice cream and it fell off the engine going through town. Oh well, nothin a Heli Coil couldn't fix.
