H78-15 is the size of the tire, so the rim should be 5" wide. Most tire manufacturers will suggest a rim size for a specific tire in their list of specifications. Pick the brand of tire and look on their web page for specs.

    If so, you want skinny.

Oops - stock rim size is 5.5" x 15", not 5x15. Anything listed for a 6" wide rim should be fine.

If you go to www.tirerack.com, pick "tire size", enter 235 75 15, and check all terrain and off-road, you'll get a few dozen options to look at. A 215 75 15 will be a little shorter and narrower, and a 30x9.5 15 will be a little taller and wider. I've seen larger tires on stock 6" rims, but the sidewalls angle in a lot, likely too much. The 215 75 15 is the usual recommendation for that rim size, from my quick look at the listings.

Dave, I run those same wheels on mine. I put BFG KO AT's, 235-75R15 on & it looks right plus drives great on the road & great off road. JMTC

Just removed a ratty old set of 32x11.50's from stock steel 15x6 Jeep wheels that my Dad had, so obviously larger tires will "fit" on narrow rims, but it's not really recommended.
