T98 into M38?

    I bought an early CJ5 parts Jeep for the T98 4-speed transmission. What am I going to run into if installing it into my M38? Driveshaft length? Thanks, Paul p.s. would the F134 fit with stock flatfender hood?

    Seems I always get ridiculed for this, but check out CJ3B website. there is lots of detailed info on this conversion at that site. Great find bye the way. I purchased the same factory set up for my 3a but went with an O'Brian 4.86 T.C. instead. Good luck

    The F134 carburetor is too tall for the low flattie hood. The usual fix is a short Holley 1V carb from a Falcon (or put a hole in the hood - considered bad form though).

    For the t98 , you will have to make a cover for thetranny in the tub because it will sit higher up. You can use your stock crossmember but you will have to add bracket to bolt up to the Mount for the gear box to sit. You could just use the crossmember that came with the parts jeep and mount the crossmember like the cj5 with it bolting to the bottom of the frame rail rather than those brackets on the side of theframe. pretty easy to do, have to drill 4 new holes.
