I just got through looking at parts, and I don't see much difference in the rotors from a Ford F150 and the Jeep rotors for this swap. The diameters, thickness and height are real close. So, has anyone used the Ford rotors instead of the expensive 1 1/18 thick Jeep rotors for the disc. brake swap on an early CJ3A? This is using the Chevy Calipers and Caliper hangers. Are they really the same, as the price difference is a lot.

I'd be interested in this also, but are the Ford discs that much cheaper? KRAGE has 'em for just under 50 bucks each...

Here is my point: NAPA online

    1977 Ford F150 4x4 1977 Jeep CJ5
    Bolt Circle: 5.5 5.5
    Diameter: 11 23/32 11.750
    Thickness; 1.185 1.185
    Height: 2.704 2.80
    Part #: TS 4885611 UP 85667
    Price: $31.99 $96.49

The cheapest price I could find for the Jeep rotors here in Houston Texas was $54.99 each. Does anyone know if they are in fact the same rotor? If so I am taking back the set I already purchased, hate to be cheap here but the difference will buy my brake hoses.

Yeowww! For that price, I'd have to take them home and try it out. The only thing that makes me wonder is the height difference of .10 inches. You might need to change out the inner bearing race to make the caliper line up correctly, but then again you might get lucky.

FWIW- I ran that same F-150 application on www.rockauto.com and they came up with a price of $13.49 per rotor. My kind of price! :D

If that thickness is correct, it's thicker than the Jeep rotors. The Chevy calipers may not fit over them. 1 1/8" = 1.125 How long do you think a set of $14 rotors will last? Ultimately, you get what you pay for. I, for one, am trying to keep "Made in China" from ever appearing on any part that's attached to my Jeep.

only by .060", thats only .030" a side. dia. alittle smaller to but not enough to matter. on dana 44s (same as dana 30 from the knuckle out) i use ford hubs/rotor and chevy/fsj calipers without any issues if i want 5 lug. so if they work on the the axle you are useing parts from then they should work. unless some knuckle interfence besides the caliper clearance.

Let us know how it turns out, I just put a set of jeep rotors on and had to remove some of the inside brake pad to gat the caliper on the driver's side(didn't want to shim out the bearing) It isn't like it is ever going to go through a set of brakes with 5.38 gears. So a little off maybe to much, but anything is possible if you get creative.

Tellico 4x4 has the jeep rotors for $46.95 each. That's where I got mine.
