Well, here goes my first of many questions.

I am looking for some info on a power steering upgrade. I have heard of several types of hack and swaps. Figure that you guys would be the best to ask. I am looking for a functional upgrade, not a cheapy no worker, nor can I afford the high dollar store bought stuff (remember, I own a Jeep). Any ideas. Your info would be appreciated.

On a side note. I am also looking for a stock roll bar. I will actually upgrade that when I find one.

    Thanks.

    Jim

You can take a look at my photo bucket page in my signature, I built all my own parts and have sold probably 2 dozen setups or more to guys on the board. If you don't want to buy it and can build it yourself the prints that I drew up several years ago are here.

McRuff's drawing of the steering box mounting bracket is a very good drawing. And, I am using his basic drawing to mount my box on my custom tube frame CJ3B. In the past I have used the mounting bracket off of a 1971 Jeepster Commando which makes mounting the box simple. But, finding them is getting harder to find and McRuff's bracket work just as good. The only thing that I have not heard from anyone and I think makes for a clean boxing of the front frame rails is this. If your front frame rails are already boxed up front than just drill the two upper mounting holes from McRuff's plate and put some sleeveā€™s inside the rails to keep them from collapsing the frame when the bolts are tightened up. If it is not boxed up front, then a clean way to box the rails is to have a steel fabricators shop bend up a piece of 3/16 plate into a C-channel the fits the inside dimensions of the frame rail so that it slips inside the rails and looks like a factory install. Then weld everything in and it will look almost like a factory install, as I do not like just welding a plate on frame rails to box them in. As, most of a Jeeps frame is just a straight C-channel getting a piece of plate bent to slip inside of the rails makes for a cleaner boxing job and makes welding them in easier. I hope I have explained things so that you can understand how I did mine.
