Does anyone know where you can get a tow bar for a 2-5/16" ball? I only see them available for the 2" balls. Just looking for one that'll clamp onto the front bumper of an old CJ on the one end, and drop onto the 2-5/16" ball on my truck on the other end.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    U-Haul uses 2 5/16" balls.

Putting a 2" ball on the truck is too logical. The two trailers I tow both use a 2-5/16" ball, so I'm trying to keep things consistent.

    Never seen a towbar, or a U-Haul with a 2 5/16"...... Or a standard drop hitch that would accept the 1" shank for a 2 5/16" ball....

Been a long time since I rented a U Haul, so I'm not sure what size shank they had. Let me look around in my trailer stuff box and see if I can come up with one.

There's a reason for that Patrick, having mostly to do with tongue weight and gross trailer weight. Any trailer with a 2-5/16" ball is going to have more than 500# of tongue weight, my 31-footer has about 800# on it, which is likely to destroy a stock CJ bumper.

The 2-5/16" balls are designed to only be used with a heavy-duty class-IV or weight-distributing hitch.

    66cj5,

I think that's what I'll do, just change the adapter.
