Not your usual disc brake swap question!!! ASAP

Hello all,

I have kind of an unusual question. I was searching on ebay and found a pair of knuckles and caliper brackets from a 1985 Jeep CJ7 that came from a dana 30 axle. I have a dana 30 on my 72 but its drum brakes, can I use the knuckles, calipers, and rotors off of an 85 to convert to disc brakes or do I have to use the parts mentioned in the tech section??? I need an answer ASAP auction ends in 6 hrs. Its 7:35am eastern time on Oct. 17th. Thanks again,

AFAIK it's a bolt-on swap if you use everything from the knuckles out.

The tech page article only applies to pre-72 Jeeps with the closed knuckle axles, or to the closed 30 or 44 on Wagons and J-trucks.

 

Tim you're great. Anytime I've needed an answer you've had it. Thanks again. Right now all I see at auction is the knuckles and caliper brackets, I'll probably keep searching, hopefully for a complete axle thats junk internally so I can scavenge parts off of it. Thanks again,

I thought there was some info floating around out there about pre-'81ish being 6 bolt and post-'81ish being 5 bolt. I don't know the answer, just asking the question.
