Okay, these have been touched on in a few other posts but I couldn't answer a couple of my questions. The transmission had February 1952 on the side so I am thinking original.

Is the transmission supposed to leak into the transfer case?

2nd gear is just like first. Not synchronized. Is this correct?

Oil spray out between the park brake and transfer case going down the road.

I havent determined if the big puddle is from the rear of the engine or the front of transmission yet. It only happens after a shakedown run and I park it. Then the leak stops.

Do I need to pull the trans right away? Will this take a full rebuild or just open it up and see what it needs?

I believe the transmission and transfer case have a passage for oil going back and forth. 2nd and 3rd gear are synchronized. Oil spray is probably from a bad output shaft seal on the transfer case.

the t-90/84/86 have an open bearing and oil/air passages between them. sounds like you need to remove the rear yoke and seal up the splines with permatex or sillycone. If you drain the oil, is it full of brass? if it is, you need to pull the tranny and replace all the sncyros.

When I drained the transmission the first time I got a huge amount of dirt in the drain pan and couldn't really analyze the stuff. I think I will drain it again now that I have finished scraping all the crud off and check it out.

You know now that I think about, it only grinds when going from third to second(deccellerating) not first to second(accellerating)

Look for brass shavings or chips in the oil. Sounds like bad synchors. I agree with 66cj5.
