Are they stamped with the same "Jeep" logo as the original '72. If any one has pics that would be great.

I don't think they are. Jeep is a registered trademark of the Chrysler Corp. I doubt that they would allow a company in the Phillipines (or anywhere else) to use it. I could be wrong though.

    Isn't Omix-Ada out of Georgia?

Their catalog say's they're stamped with the 'Jeep' logo. I wonder what that would look like if it isn't the original logo?

You would also try Willys-Overland Motors. They have something called a "Repli-Tub" that's supposed to be 100% accurate for restorations, although I personally have never seen one to be certain, but the photo's of them look great!

Hard to say. Might have to cut some out of a donor tub and graft them in.

Pretty sure that all the steel repro tubs are made by MD Juan in the PI. http://www.mdjuan.com.ph/index.php All the repro tubs I've seen, steel and 'glass, have had no Jeep logo.

I've been researching for a new tub for this winter's project. Apparently ALL replcement Jeep tubs are made in the Phillipines regardless of who you by it from. Willy Overland buys the panels and assembles the tubs to factory spec as they have the original blueprints. They were very helpful with the info they provided to me. However, I'm not looking for a tub with all the holes cut out for the tailights, steering column, pedals etc. So I'm probably not going to use their tub. I'm leaning towards the Omix Ada as they have a distributor fairly nearby and i can pick the tub up rather than pay the rather hefty shipping cost to have one shipped to me. I am going to cut out the Jeep logo from the old body and CONTEMPLATE having it welded into the new tub. But, that being said, my Jeep is so far from stock at this point I can't say it will be worth the effort and expence. I can see how it would be important to the resto guys here though.

Man, I'd go with an original tub if I lived where you do. Last time I was at Scotty's in Fontana, they had several tubs in the yard. J&W would have them too, or you could look around for a bargain on Craig's list etc. You should be able to get a used tub for half the price of a new one (even at a yard), and you'll get more than twice the value IMO.

If you're not too particular about originality, but still want the "Jeep" word where it should be... consider getting the stick-on letters that are found on the front of ZJs and others. That's what I did for my 'glass tub, I think it cost $12/side from the dealer.

Just kinda curious why your asking about the omix ada tubs as it looks like you are selling your current almost rust free body? If you're looking for originality, you're probably better off fixing what you have (at least by the description in your ad).

Good question! Because the quote I got to restore it to "new" condition is more than it would cost to replace. The tub I have is in great shape, don't get me wrong. I don't know how to do the work myself so the labor would be the bulk of the cost. For someone looking for a good tub to 4x4with or replace a shot tub it is perfect. So, financial a replacement would better fit my restore needs.

No time like the present if you want to learn. You can do it if you have a place to work. You'd be surprised at how good your amateur paint and body work can look.

Even from the factory, the exterior body work on CJs wasn't great - the paint was ok, but the factory made no effort to straighten the panels or cover things like spot weld dimples. That level of fit and finish would be unacceptable today.

Take a close look at a repro tub before you buy (or sell your existing tub). I think you'll find the condition is nowhere near ready-to-paint, at least by modern standards. I suspect that you're jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, at a cost of $2000 or so. What are you expecting?

I've also heard you need to cut all the proper holes in the repro tubs. Without a guide to go by I think that in itself would be pretty dificult. There is a company that does sell them with the holes cut, but you pay a premium price for their tubs.

Better off to keep it and try your hand at fixing it yourself, IMHO. There's lots of 4 wheelers here that can help. Join up at colo4x4.org and maybe you can get to know someone in your area. I'm in Parker, but I have no experience either, I'll be starting from scratch too. Eastwood.com has a forum with lots of discussions about various body work issues.

I was at J&W yesterday (I picked up a cherry M38A1 frame) and they had nothing decent in an ECJ tub. Fontana is a little far to go for me. But I'm a few months away from needing a tub, so who knows.

I received a new Omix-ada catalog today. They now carry Jeep Licensed items, like "Jeep" marked tubs. They also still carry the normal tubs.
