    That sounds like a good plan.

    A good reality check would be to compare his prices with Jasper's and AutoZone's for a short and long block. Jasper has a good reputation. http://www.jasperengines.com/ AutoZone is more variable.

    If it aint broke, dont fix it. ;)
    Use the money youd spend for a rebuild on other parts.
    Like a locker or two, full float kit, winch, etc.
