    This might be a stupid question, but can you use a multimeter to measure dwell?

    yes an automotive multi-meter will have a dwell setting on it.

    I just have a cheap tachometer that has dwell on it. I guess you could also do it with an o'scope easily. But who has an oscilloscope laying around.
