So I take the CJ for another test drive to town about 8 miles. Gas gauge is at 1/3 - close to 1/2 tank. New guage and sender. Figure must be ok, I put in 8 - 10 gallons 2 weeks ago and only drove it 60 - 70 miles. Also new noise started in the transmission in town. Sounded like a bolt rattling around inside the trans.

On the way home maybe 1 mile away, the Jeep starts to run rough and die, so I pull over. 5 minutes later, my friend's son happens by, asks if I need help, and he runs to his home and brings me some gas. Ok now it runs fine, but will only go backward and dies if I put in second or third. Shifter is real loose on the R/1st side. Must be a broken shift fork.

Well that is part of a newly rebuilt old Jeep. At least it feels good to be able to drive it after all these years....Going on vacation, so it will have to wait till I get back.
