Differences between CJ7 and CJ5

    Ok I know I sound like an idiot when I ask this question, but all I have ever owned are CJ5's. I've found a ton of hard tops for CJ7's that i like but I don't know the difference between the CJ5 and 7. I think the CJ7 is longer but I'm not sure. The body repair panels from shermans are called out the same etc. So I'm confused, why can't I use a hard top and doors from a CJ7 on my CJ5? Please bear with me. Thanks again,

    The doors are the wrong shape at the bottom.

    because of the extra 10" the CJ7 has in the door opening

    Yup, 10" longer wheelbase and body, longer and bigger door openings. Different tailgate. A CJ-7 top will not fit a CJ-5, and modifications to make it fit would have to be extensive.

    lots of work top ridge on body is different plus the afformentioned extra 10". But has been done appearently.
