Again, this discussion was about High-tec not about semi retreads. And again, I've seen NOTHING bad about High-tec since I've been surfing the net to indicate that they have any problems. Any and all negative comments are like this. Generic comments about retreads not based on High-tec which I think is pretty unfair. I admit I'm not qualified to make a statement about High-tec, I don't think someone else is either if they've not had them on their Jeep/Pickup whatever.

To make an analogy it's like rating the carrying capacity of a Ford Pickup on a Volvo Semi. They're both trucks, they both carry stuff, but saying the pickup isn't suitable for small around town jobs based on the semi not being suitable is silly IMO. Different products, different applications. JMO, YMMV, etc.

Ummm, didn't mean to open up an old debate. Just exicted about my new tires. I figure that if Dummy can use them as he did, they should be good enough the 1000-1500 miles I put on in a year driving in town and over the few logging trails and mud holes that I see.

...and honestly, I like the look of 'em.

Don't worry about it Brad. If we can't discuss stuff on the board as adults then we shouldn't be here. :)

I don't care persay about retreads, I do care about the quality of information or misinformation. I just had a discussion with a well known member of the Jeep community this weekend who was distraught about the amount of misinformation out there.

I'm not saying dohc281 is wrong or misinforming, I'm sure what he says is true about semi retreads. We're not talking about semi retreads here though. I think it's important to consider the differences in the product and applications and whether you have direct experience with that particular product or not in any time you're offering advice about something like this.

I am saying that I care about what kind of experience backs up the observations or statements. I just don't like to see broad statements made about a specific product if there is no direct experience with it.

Like I said, I've never had 'em, so I can't comment on them directly.

I'll step off my soapbox now and go sit in the corner with Dennis. Hopefully I've not offended dohc281, I meant no offense here. Just my observations from where I'm sitting (in the corner). ;)

FWIW...I received a reply back from High-Tec about 7.00x16 NDT's, and they don't have those.

Update: Hi-Tec retread has been bought out and is now www.treadwright.com

Their new website looks promising; new sizes (mostly for the late model crowd), same great construction, and I've even seen specials on some sizes. FWIW, I'm still running my set of Hi-Tec 33x12.50 D-Mud 2 years later and haven't had a problem with them yet. Still lots of tread, run vibration free, great tires.

I've run 3 seperate sets in the past few years. Excellent product and great customer service. I will probably run another set on my current CJ.
