I have pulled everything off the front end of jeep and I am a little bit concerned with the strength of the front crossmember. It just doesn't look right to me and doesn't look like it can support the front end the way it needs to. Not to mention it looks horrible...(not that you see it all that much but you know it's there)

It's basically two pieces of angle iron welded together

There is another length of what I assume is a cut up piece of the original crossmember welded on top of the two lengths of angle iron which is where the radiator was setting. A large notch has been taken out to make room for the power steering which doesn't seem to leave a lot of support for the drivers side.

Does this look heavy duty enough to do the job? I'm guessing it's been in the jeep for about 8 years, (I think that's when the v8 conversion was done) and it seems to be holding up so far, no cracks or warping as far as I can tell.

I've found a nice example here in the gallery section.

Does anyone else have any experience with replacing the front crossmember? Any suggestions or tips?
