Temp guage problem

Ok here is whats goin on....I start the jeep and drive ...the temp gauge burries itself even though the jeep is not overly hot...it will stay like that forever ..unless i stop and shut it of to do what vere for a few minutes then when i restart it it works like a charm...Why would it do this ??Thanks Sam

 

I would have to guess that it's a ground problem... where it's at? No clue

 

I was thinking the same thing....Yeah i had a few of those "ground" problems since i tore it apart , painted everything and put it back together.
Would it be a ground on the guage??

does it do it as well with just the key on, engine not running ?
pulsating power at the sender ?
since it's at the rear of the head, the wire could have worn thru rubbing on a component as well
purple with tracer if I recall
instrument cluster/radio/gauges recently removed/worked on ?

The wire is green with white tracer...i had the dash out of it and painted it so everything got unpluged inside and the motor was replaced so everything out there was torn apart also..AAAHHHH
