Thanks for the words of encoragement!:)

Spent the day bending tube. I needed to get a 120* bend out of my 120* die. I think the most your supposed to be able to get out of a 120* die is about 110*. I should have bought a 240* die, but it wasn't in the budget and I only needed the two bends for grill hoop. I was able to make it work and the grill hoop turned out ok for my first official project with the new bender.

Here it is tacked on the jeep.

I set the grill up to get an idea of how things look.

I was also able to bend up the truss for the front axle so thats what I'll be working on this week and hopefully I'll be able to set up the front links next weekend.

    Enjoy!

    Kevo,

I have just discovered this site and your thread. You sir are "da bomb." I am in awe of your talent and the understated way inwhich you present this project. I only wish I was close enough to shake your hand.

This is the best build/project that I have had the pleasure to read.

    Keep it up,

    Hutch

Spent some time away from the project on saturday so not much to report today.

I did get the front axle in position and the truss is tacked on. The frontend concerns me alot. I think I'm gonnna have tire rubbing issues as well as there is a lot of junk to fit in such a small space and it all has to work together. Anyhow well see how it all fits.

Needing some time to think about the front truss panhard mount situation I decided to start working on the rocker bars. However I've only got one halfway tacked into place so no pics yet. Maybe tommorrow.

    Enjoy!

I was making progress this weekend, untill I ran out of wire on sunday. Luckily the roomate is moving his crap outta the house so I am slowly gaining space in the garage. I need to find an air compressor and drill press though, as well as a bigger tool box.

Anyhow, I got some tubing and threaded inserts to make the tie rod, draglink and panhard bar. I am still thinking about the panhard mount however. I need to get some cardboard so I can start mocking things up before I cut. I also need to get some more 1/4" plate.

I also got started on the front fenders. I guess I was just amped up after getting the bender done and wanted to see what the body would start to look like.

It was pretty difficult trying to rest the tube on a clamp, the other end on a stick, while holding it level and trying to tack it all together. I cut the stick to be the correct hight. Here I'm using it and a tie strap to hold it up and get the lower A-pillar tube cut correctly.

Heres a front side shot of the rocker and A-pillar tube. You can see how the body will be angled up. I'd also like to plate the rockers in so they are smooth to slide over.

I'll be picking up more wire tomorrow and hopefully a few more bolts. I also need to cut the hood and cowl so I can test fit them and make sure my A-pillar tubes are in the right spots. I will be cutting an inch off the bottom sides of the hood and cowl.

    Enjoy!

I watch this thread very closely and dream of the day I have my own garage to do this in. It looks like things are coming along very well.

Didn't get anywhere near as much done this weekend as I had hoped to, but made progress in other ways.

I had some issues with the pass side lower link mount on the axle. In order for the tire to clear the link when its at full lock I had to weld 1/3 of it to the cast center section. Since the link should see quite a bit of loading grinding over boulders and what not I knew this mount needed to be strong. I used an old D44 housing I had and tried a few different methods of welding to see what would hold up best as well as doing some research online. I used the arc welder with some nickle rod and that sucked so then I tried the oxy-acet torch and the was even worse. I decided to just see what would happen if I migged it. After preheating I did a pass on both sides and then beat on it. Seems to work.

After that I decided to just use the mig. I also braced the mount on that side to help spread the loading out. I'm thinking another gusset up to the truss would be good insurance as well.

After all that I finally welded the truss in and started plating the pass side. Now I can start working on the panhard mount.

I also got the lower links together and tacked.

Not much else got done because today I helped my roomate move most of his junk out of our garage. We pulled out another 4 engines. It kinda sucks because he's taking a lot of tools like the drill press and floor jack, but what I loose in tools I gain in space and now I have the space to find my own tools. Tools that actually work well.R)

    Enjoy!

    Hmmmm.....

Haven't been here in a while. I see I'm now the last thread in the forum.R)

Sorry guys, lifes been getting in the way. Between the girlfriend, job, parents, moving a roomate out that has way too much stuff and then getting the house clean and liveable again its been a busy couple months.

But, I have found time to work on the jeep.

I've been working on the cage recently.

Did a mockup of one of the coilovers. Trying to see if it clears everything or not. Its tight in there!

Kinda an idea of what its like with some skins on it. This is pre-cage obviously.

    Enjoy!

Lil' bit o progress this weekend.

I made the brake and clutch pedal assembly.

Hopefully my leverage ratios work out ok. (yes, I did do the math!)

Clamped in place. Hardware stores aren't open after 5 on holiday weekends so its not mounted yet, but you get the idea.

    Kinda dark pic.

I need to work on the clutch linkage and then I can finally finalize the seat position so I can finish the tube work.

Those are probably the stoutest pedals I've ever seen. I like it.

Well no need to worry about breaking D44 shafts anymore.R)

I just scored a sweet deal on a chevy dually D60 and D70HD combo.
    Front D60
    [IMG]

    Rear D70HD, this is a big'n!

The fronts got dually hubs which most people don't like, however they work out well with the hummer rims I bought a while ago.

Oddly enough, the dually front hubs fit on the rear D70 spindles.

    The D70 has 35spline shafts.

And has big bore spindles. I think I could run 40spline shafts if I wanted too.

    One ton upgrade kit.

I'm still trying to decide how I want to use these things.
